Is Warner Bros. Creating a Seperate Vertigo Cinematic Universe?
It seems that according to Deadline Warner Bros. has decided to restructure their approach when it comes to the various DC properties that they own. While all members of the Justice League are still going to be published by Warner Bros, which includes all the films that have already been slated such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc., all darker projects based on Vertigo projects will now be published by New Line Cinema, WB’s sister studio.[1]
With this it seems that they are
deciding to create a separate Cinematic Universe that surrounds the various
projects with only Sandman confirmed to be heading our direction by Joseph
Gordon-Levitt. Still, as it is a sister studio the potential for a crossover
still exists, but they can keep it as a part of their own pocket universe.
There are also still rumors by The
Hollywood Reporter[2] that Shazam
featuring Dwayne Johnson might remain a New Line production, but at one point
there were rumors he would be joining the Justice League as Black Adam. The
Justice League Dark, or Dark Universe, film also is supposed to still be a part
of Warner Bros. slate, but sadly it seems that Guillermo del Toro has left the project.
After the cancellation of Silent Hills it sadly seems as if del Toro is losing
a lot of projects as of late.
