Fast & Furious Franchise Expanding!

The concept to creating a Cinematic Universe has been spreading across many franchises and it seems that not even the Fast & Furious franchise was able to escape it. After releasing seven films so far and the next installment already in production, it was only a question of time after its recent success if we would see this concept find itself in the franchise as well.[1]

Vin Diesel stated that “We’ve written out story lines for various character. We’ve been playing with it for a long time. It’s a very rich property and we’re committed to treating with a lot of class.” Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures added that “We’ve certainly in conversations about how we can expand the franchise now. It’s an ensemble cast and there’s room to bring characters in and out.”

It seems that a variety of spin-offs and prequels are planned, but the focus does seem to lay on finishing the last trilogy of films, which will start with the upcoming Fast 8 film that is on the horizon.
