Is Warner Bros. Gearing Up To Expand Their DC Film Franchise Already?
I know I am a bit late on this news, but it still feels like something important that should be given a look at, as Latino-Review once again has found an interesting rumor regarding two upcoming DC properties, Green Lantern and Batman. Naturally, the following news will still be nothing more than a rumor until official word comes out, but Warner Bros. seems to be playing with some interesting ideas if these are to be confirmed sometime down the road.[1]
The Batman
In 2018?
Let us talk about the most
interesting rumor that up to this point is still the only film that is missing
in DC and Warner’s line-up up to 2020. It seems the plan is to release a film
focused on the Dark Knight in November 2018 with the Bat himself, Ben Affleck,
directing the film. This makes a lot of sense considering he has proven his
skills with films such as The Town and Argo. Furthermore, Chris Terrio, who has
also helped out on the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, will write the
script. To differentiate it from the Batman films that have come before the
plan is to give it the title “The Batman”, which many might remember as the
title for the animated Batman TV-show back in 2004. If this proves to be true
then we will have the potentially darkest Batman film heading our way in just a
few years.
Green Lantern An Ensemble Piece?
One film we know is heading our
direction is the reboot of Green Lantern, which originally starred Ryan
Reynolds as Hal Jordan back in 2011. To make the film feel more distinct it
seems that rumors have it that the film will become an ensemble piece featuring
not only Hal Jordan, but also John Stewart and potentially Kyle Rayner. This
would certainly prove to be an interesting move by Warner Bros. to focus on the
lore and different lives of the various Green Lantern, who we all come to love
over the ages. Additionally, it seems Chris Pine might actually be closing in
on the role of Hal Jordan, which if you ask me seems like a perfect casting
decision!
So, there you
have it. What do you think of the news? Agree or disagree with Warner Bros.
decisions on these projects? Leave a comment below!
