HBO Developing A Watchmen TV Series?

It seems that Collider got an exclusive on the fact that HBO is interested in developing a series in inspiration of the Alan Moore classic Watchmen. Not only that, but it also seems that Zack Snyder, the director behind the first film adaptation of the story, is backing the project to see it become a reality. HBO has certainly garnered much attention due to its breakout show Game of Thrones, and it wouldn’t be that much of a surprise that they would tackle the current superhero genre by tackling one of its most adult stories.[1]

There are sadly no exact details though which aspect of Watchmen will be adapted and even if the show will see the light of day. Not too long ago they were developing a series titled Utopia with David Fincher working on it, but due to budget issues they halted the production. With Game of Thrones one day going to end, it could be that they are looking into possible shows that will one day replace them.

Still, it will be interesting to see if this will be inspired by the 2012 Before Watchmen run, take a look at the Minutemen, the first superhero team in the Watchmen universe, or just focus on the storyline introduced in the film.
