[The Flash] #206 - Enter Zoom

After the Flash team was able to take out Doctor Light, who turned out to be the Earth-2 counterpart of Linda Park, they plan on finding a way to lure out Zoom. The problem is that Dr. Wells knows the exact risks and it may turn out to be a problem for Barry Allen in the end. Cisco also tries to uncover the secrets behind Dr. Wells motivation of hunting down Zoom by utilizing his new powers.
Zoom might bring over some Earth-2 spoilers
for this episode so be wary as you continue your fight against the demonic
speedster. Be careful as you never know where the demonic monster might appear!
The most fun part was seeing a
little montage of Park trying to learn how to utilize the Doctor Light’s
powers, which are given to her in the form of weapons created by Cisco. It was
a fun to watch as she tries to figure out how to use these light powers, but
also just the fact that Cisco has a habit of creating cutouts of everyone in
the team. Also, Barry revealing his face to Park made sense for this episode,
but I just find it odd how trustworthy he is and how it didn’t really serve
their relationship any way. They are still not together and there is no sign of
her actually playing a role in Team Arrow, especially considering her learning
to use these powers. It was great for the episode, but I have a hard time
buying that there are no long-term effects of this revelation.
Dr. Wells is amazing as always
and I like how the more successful version of this character, who is not
actually the Reverse-Flash, is a much more bitter character. I wish that they
would actually just go out of their way and reveal how exactly the metahumans
of this other world were created, but that is still kind of in the air of now
and I just don’t think this story is worth leaving hidden. It would be great to
just get a better motivation for Wells outside of the fact that his daughter
was kidnapped and Cisco’s powers actually reveal to him that she is still
alive. Personally, I wished that we got to see the more noble version of this
character doing the things he is because of guilt, but that may or may not be
revealed.
This was a rather empty episode
when it comes to plot if you don’t really focus too much on Cisco trying to get
a date with future Ms. Hawkgirl and the lingering Joe has a son he doesn’t know
about storyline, the main focus was on the first official confrontation between
Barry and Zoom. Man, they really should have given some time to Barry talking
with Jay to find out who or what Zoom is before rushing into this, as I believe
his presence is the one thing this episode really lacked. Still, I have to say
that Zoom is certainly a fantastic threat and seeing him tear into Barry was
just brutal, but I loved every single minute of it. Especially seeing as he
used Barry as an example to Earth-1 was a nice touch even if I wonder why Zoom
didn’t steal his powers like he did with Jay. Still, the design of Zoom is
fantastic and I look forward to what else is heading our way with him.
