Marvel's Guardians Win and Lose A Cast Member?

We have our first official casting from the upcoming Marvel project focusing on the Guardians of the Galaxy. The film had seen such a success that the sequel was even announced shortly before the film aired in the United States with it receiving its official title not too long ago, as Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 and it has now finally started its official casting.

The Guardians are getting another female member, as French actress Pom Klementieff has joined the group as Mantis. Many might know her from the recent Oldboy remake and it seems she will have a key role in the film. Her being Mantis might have also sparked the reason that they tried to mainly focus on casting an Asian actress for the role.

The report states the following:

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has added a new member to the team of galactic heroes, casting French actress Pom Klementieff, best known in the U.S. for her role in Spike Lee’s remake of Oldboy. Klementieff’s role is being kept under wraps for now, but we’re told she’ll be playing the superhero Mantis.

That isn't all though, as it seems they have been courting Matthew McConaughey for a villain role in the upcoming film, which could have been Star-Lord's father or even Adam Warlock, a character that has been teased for some time now. Sadly it seems that this casting didn't pan out and they are still looking for another actor to take over the role, but it will be interesting to see who they could be casting. Al Pacino has stated that he is quite interested in taking up a role in the film due to his love for the first, so we could still see if that might turn into something.
