Five Nights At Freddy's Has Found A Director?
While I know many will state that Five Nights At Freddy’s has reached its limit with the recent fourth and final installment, I actually am quite fond of the way the story is told throughout the entire franchise. A while back it was mentioned that Scott Cawthon’s creation might actually become a film, as Warner Bros. picked up the rights to the franchise, and shortly after it seems that we already have a director in place.
Gil Kenan has signed a deal according to an exclusive at
Deadline[1]
to direct the live-action adaptation of the video game. Furthermore, he will be
writing the script together with Tyler Burton Smith with Roy Lee producing
alongside Setz Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg as well as Adam Stone and Jay
Ireland, who are working as executive producers.
Kenan has some experience in the field with directing the
Poltergeist remake, City of Ember and Monster House, being personally chosen by
Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis, which makes him an interesting fit for
the role as director. While I personally hope that Cawthon is involved in the
development of the story, as he had created quite a fascinating mythology for
his series and am very interested how they will bring the animatronics to life.
What are your thoughts
on the matter? Leave a comment below and what you hope to see in this film?
