Martin Freeman's Role in Civil War And Beyond

One of the biggest mysteries of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film is what exactly Martin Freeman’s role will be within the film. Many were wondering if he might be playing a bigger role beyond this film, or if he might actually be just a one-off character as no exact information was offered so far, not even really a name.[1]
In a recent interview with Kevin
Feige, he stated that “He’s under the
cloak of secrecy. There are a lot of amazing actors in this movie. Some of them
play a larger roles than others. And in some cases there are some you will meet
ever so briefly in this film and then will be expanded upon in the future
films. Martin falls into that latter category.”
It seems he could be playing a
similar role that Clark Gregg was playing in Iron Man and Thor, but sadly no
exact details on if he might be part of a new SHIELD organization or just part
of the government body that is part of the Sokovia Act. Some theorize he is
going to re-appear in the upcoming Black Panther film, which would allow him to
be the surrogate character into Wakanda that would also build up future
storylines. Some are even hoping to see him appear in a Doctor Strange film to
see if we might get a little nod to him and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock
roles.
