It seems as if Doctor Strange, the upcoming more mystical and magical-oriented project by Marvel Studios, finally has some news coming out as it seemed the entire focus was on the currently filming Captain America: Civil War. With Benedict Cumberbatch leading the film as the Sorcerer Supreme, one of the biggest questions remained who would become his mentor, the Ancient One. The actors involved with this role have ranged from Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy and Ken Watanabe, but no true actor has yet been confirmed to be playing the actor.

As of now, this is still a rumor but it seems as if Marvel is going a completely different route with reports by The Hollywood Report[1] stating that Tilda Swinton, an actress who will be starring in the upcoming film by Judd Apatow, Trainwreck alongside Amy Acker, might join the cast as a female interpretation of the Ancient One. The actress has appeared in various films, such as The Grand Budapest Hotel and Snowpiercer.

If this rumor is true than it could be quite an interesting twist on the Doctor Strange origins. While one could also theorize if the actress might be portraying a completely different role, such as rumors having it that Death might appear in this film. With the upcoming Infinity Wars and Thanos ever-growing role this could also be a legit theory.

What do you think about this rumor? Who do you hope she is playing in Doctor Strange?
