Has Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Received Its Official Subtitle?

After a while of speculating on what could potentially would be the subtitle for the upcoming sequel to 2014s surprise hit Guardians of the Galaxy, we finally have the official reveal of what exactly the title is by not only James Gunn, the director, but also by the head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige.[1]

The official title is “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”, which is a nice nod to Star-Lord’s Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and 2, which appeared in the first film. This indeed tells us that the music theme from the first film is being continued in the sequel.

While I do think the title is a perfect choice considering the heavy use of Star-Lord’s mixtapes throughout the first film, I do wish it would give us a bit more of a hint of what we can expect in this film. This isn’t a complaint, but maybe just me personally wishing for a consistency between all films as the Iron Man trilogy still sticks out due to the numbering.
