Death Note Finds It's Light Yagami?!
It seems that Warner Bros. is moving forward with their live-action adaptation of the famous Manga/Anime Death Note. While up to this point we haven’t heard much in news regarding the rumored project, we now have our first official casting. It seems that former Paper Towns actor, and almost Spider-Man frontrunner Nat Wolff will play a role in the film.[1]
Variety reports that he will play “a student who discovers a supernatural
notebook that allows him to kill anyone simply by writing the victim’s name. A
cat-and-mouse game ensues when he’s tracked by a reclusive police officer.” This
hints at the fact he will be playing Light Yagami, but it is unsure if he will
keep his original name, but otherwise it seems quite true to the source
material.
The film will be directed by Adam
Wingard from a script by Jeremy Slater, and it seems they already have Roy Lee,
Dan Lin, Jason Hoffs and Masi Oka as producers. Now, the question will remain
who will play L in the upcoming series and how closely it will resemble the
Manga. One interesting thing is that Japan had its own Live-action two-parter,
which was quite true to the franchise and was a great adaptation, so it will be
interesting to see.
