Will McGyver Return To Television?
It seems that CBS Studios is quite interested in rebooting the MacGyver franchise, as according to their reports the show will be “A reimagning of the television of the same name, following a 20-something MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.”
With Scott Gemmill from NCIS: Los
Angeles and The Unit on the project as showrunne rand Michael Clear and Henry
Winkler on as executive producers already seems like it could hold a lot of
potential. That isn’t all as the pilot episode will be directed by James Wan. who
is famous for his films Insidious and Furious 7. It seems this is a passion
project for the director for quite some time, but as he couldn’t get a film
made, a TV show seems the next logical step. Only question will remain if the
concept of McGyver will work in a more modern setting in a time of renegades
solving problems in their unique way.[1]
