Agent Carter Confirms Another Returning Character Ahead of SDCC'15 Panel

A while back it was confirmed that James D’Arcy and Enver Gjokaj would be returning for the upcoming second season while the other cast members were still in a state of limbo regarding their contract renewals. Well, it seems that the Executive Producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters accidently let slip that another actor will be returning in the coming season.[1]

None other than Jack Thompson, portrayed by Chad Michael Murray, will be returning as the character, as Butters stated in the interview “Well, you’ll see Agent Sousa and Agent Thompson”. Even going into what has become of the character since the ending of season one, so if you have yet to see the film please keep the spoilers in mind.[2]

“We can say that Thompson has taken over SSR New York, but he’s also not the head of the whole agency. And keep in mind, the SSR was somewhat based on the OSS, and we know this because when Markus and McFeely wrote Captain America, that was their inspiration.” Adding that “So now that the war is over, things are changing. And in real history, the OSS sort of became the CIA and some of its other functions went under other departments. There’s a little bit of change going on within SSR and so Thompson has a boss that’s going to be saying “ Look things are changing, and you need to look out for yourself.”.”

With his character return a question lingers in my mind if they would actually build up a connection between him and Spider-Man’s Flash Thompson. Both share the same last name and it wouldn’t be strange if he would be one of the members that lead to Peter Parker’s famous bully being born. Here is hoping we might get some hints at the future his character holds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
