Is Pacific Rim 2 A Victim Of The Warner Bros. & Legendary Dispute?

It really seems like Guillermo del Toro is going through a rough patch, as not only is his Silent Hills project with Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima was cancelled by Konami, and now it seems that according to some reports Pacific Rim 2 is also falling apart on him, especially after he passed on his Justice League Dark project so that he can direct the film.[1]

The report according to The Hollywood Reporter states that Pacific Rim 2 has been halted indefinitely due to the difficult relationship between Legendary, Warner Bros. and Universal due to production issues. It seems while Universal was quite successful with this year’s Jurassic World, which is also co-financed by Legendary, even Legendary CEO Thomas Tull supposedly trying to take credit for, but other films Blackhat and Seventh Son didn’t prove that successful. In addition, there is some fear regarding The Great Wall and the ambitious Warcraft film by Duncan Jones.

As a result, Tull is back to Warner Bros. to produce Kong: Skull Island, which supposedly will lead into a Godzilla and King Kong crossover, but it seems to be an estranged relationship, as reports state Tull is also trying to bank on the success of The Dark Knight, which they also help co-finance.
