Alfre Woodards Role in Luke Cage Revealed!

Alfre Woodards role in the upcoming Luke Cage show has now officially been published, as she is playing Mariah Dillard, a local Harlem politician and the cousin of the recent announced Mahershala Ali’s character Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes.  She has a similar goal that Wilson Fisk has tried to achieve in Daredevil, as she is trying to change the streets she grew up on, but her goals are put into a bad spotlight due to the confrontation between Luke Cage and her cousin.[1]

According to Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb “Alfre has an inredible, unique and intimidating presence on screen that makes her perfect as a leader of the Harlem community. We couldn’t be more excited that an actress as celebrated and talented as Alfre has decided to join us on this adventure.”

It is also confirmed that showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker will be writing the first two episodes that are currently in production under the name “Tiara”, which is a nice callback to Cage’s original design from the comics.
