Is Tron 3 Still Happening?

A while back it was revealed that after Tomorrowland had bombed at the Box Office the sequel to Tron: Legacy, which was received with mixed reviews and a moderate Box Office gain, was cancelled. It was to have Garrett Hedlund to return alongside Olivia Wilde, but for a while they were mum on the project. Now during a recent interview it seems we might actually still get to see the sequel of Tron: Legacy.[1]

“I haven’t been told it’s totally dead. Ever since we did Legacy, we knew that to have another story follow it up, it had to be concrete and exciting. Disney needed to have the right story to go forward. I think it was going to introduce some things that were as exciting as Legacy was and then some, though.” It seems Hedlund still has hope for the franchise even jokingly stating that it could potentially come out in 30 years. “Who knows, maybe it’ll be like Legacy was to the first tron, it’ll be 30 years. I’ll have my young Flynn CGI face, who knows?”

What do you think? Will we see this franchise return or is Tron: Legacy just that? Leave a comment below!
