Must Gordon Face The Court Of Owls?
One of the most interesting new additions to the Batman mythos was the so-called Court of Owls, who have deep ties with the Wayne family and especially with the city of Gotham. With the first episode starting this week, it seems that two characters, Theo and Tabitha Galavan, might potentially have some ties to the court that will one day make Batman’s life a living hell, as the showrunner Bruno Heller giving some insight into their existence in the show.[1]
“We are absolutely
going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show,
we have to hold some cards back, we can’t just throw all of the elements, all of
the story at once. The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne’s journey of
discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of
Gotham. The Court of Owl’s is a brilliant concept that will absolutely be part of
our storytelling. I just won’t tell you when.”
It certainly doesn’t reveal too much regarding these
characters future, but there is potential for us too see them in the second
season, as these characters have been around since the first foundation for
Gotham had been laid out. Also, it is interesting that a show originally was
meant to be about a young Jim Gordon surviving the city, there is a much
stronger focus on young Bruce Wayne this time around.
