Nintendo Officially Has A New President
The video game industry was shocked when Mario creator Shigeru Myiamoto passed away earlier this year and for quite some time it was up in the air who would take over and how it would affect the company’s future. Well, it is now official that the former Managing Director and current head of the Human Resources department Tatsumi Kimishima is taking over.[1]
While some are surprised to hear
that Genyo Takeda, the mastermind behind the Nintendo Wii console, wasn’t
elected, Kimishima was Nintendo of America’s president for four years from 2002
to 2006 until he was succeeded by Reggie Fils-Aime. With a background as the
Chief Financial Officer of the Pokemon Company and even was the president of
the US division of the company.
Regarding the future of Nintendo, it
was stated that “There will be no change in President Iwata’s fundamental
objectives and strategies.” Furthermore he states that “a next generation of
collective leadership” is being planned between him, Myamoto and Takeda. He
will officially take on his position as the director of Nintendo Co. Ltd
starting September, 16th.
