Looks like Kong: Skull Island is coming together with some early cast announcements since the departure of some actors after the project almost seemed to have hit a massive road bump. Deadline now reports that John Goodman will be joining the cast of the upcoming King Kong remake, which may even end up becoming a part of a huge Monster mash-up between King Kong and 2014’s new introduction of Godzilla.[1]

John Goodman will also be joined by Thomas Mann according to Variety[2], who will be a member of an expedition team and Goodman will play “Randa, who is “a government official leading the expedition.” It also seems Kong: Skull Island is still not its official name, as it is still being reconsidered. The cast now officially consists of John Goodman, Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Mitchell and John C. Reilly alongside the before-mentioned actors.

It was also given its first synopsis, which sounds as follows:

“The story is about a man (Hiddleston) who travels to the mythical island after his brother is stranded there trying to retrieve the mythical serum Titan, which is believe to be the cure for all illnesses and disseases. The  man must lead a rescue team to save his brother while confronting the creatures that inhabit the island.”

It certainly sounds like an interesting change-up from a film crew trying to capture the gigantic ape on his camera. Makes you wonder how tall King Kong will be with Godzilla towering over skyscrapers and how they will end up fighting, but just maybe he will be the skyscraper that King Kong climes upon.
