What Could We See in Agents of SHIELD Season 3?

Now this has been long overdue, but with the new TV season starting soon, it seems like a perfect time to make my personal wish list for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s third season, which finally gave us our first promo for the show hinting at Ward’s new incarnation of HYDRA, Zimmer’s own new organization, Daisy and Mack’s new position in the team and lastly even a hint at the monstrous Lash. It seems that season 3 will be quite an extension of the already pretty hefty second season, so I thought with the series once again starting this month it would be about time for me to talk about the things I would like to see in the upcoming season.

Secret Warrior Members
One of the biggest reveals for this season is the fact that we are getting the expansion of the Secret Warriors to the series and I am really hoping to see some of the classic members from the comics to make their appearance. Most notably I would love to see the appearance of Sebastian Druid, who could be our first introduction to the mystical before Doctor Strange makes his appearance and even Yo-Yo Rodriguez, whose father the Griffin was actually even mentioned by John Garrett in the first season. It would be a great call back and connection to that reference from far back. One character I think would make an interesting addition would be a young Jerry Sledge, who is the sun of Season 2 and Daredevil’s Carl Crusher Creel, who could also make a return in the series after breaking out of the prison he was being kept at. Also, on a side note, I hope the Secret Warriors get an official logo that Mack creates for the team, who I think is a great addition as the more “human” addition to the cast.

Team SHIELD Expansion
While I am very much looking forward to the Secret Warrios, I do not want the focus to be lost of our actual SHIELD team. They are creating a new ship for them as the Bus was blown to pieces in the last season, but with the strong focus on three different enemies, the rise in Inhumans and the Secret Warriors team, I do hope that we do not lose the focus from the namesake of the show. I want to see SHIELD expand with a look at their base, their new armory and vehicles. While my biggest wish is still to see them actually receive their own Helicarrier at one point, but that is just a personal dream for the series. Still, no matter what happens throughout the series, it should not forget the fact that it is still a SHIELD TV series.

Ward’s HYDRA
The most interesting aspect will be how they tackle Ward’s incarnation of HYDRA, as he seems to be more of a lone wolf rather than a team leader, but this could become quite interesting. I think that Ward will get wind of the rise in Inhumans on the front of SHIELD, so will be trying to create his own group of Masters of Evil (What? I could see him giving them that title!) and they could even potentially be connected with Baron Zemo’s appearance in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film. With the Ward backlash from the last season I could see them trying to save the character of Ward, who could potentially join the Secret Warriors as many have theorized he was playing Hellfire. It would certainly be an interesting theme to explore seeing how Daisy and Ward have to interact after being forced on the team.

The Obelisk
A good friend of mine had his own theories on what it could be, so be sure to check it out by clicking HERE, but I personally am more interested in what exactly the Obelisk would mean for our poor girl Simmons. Being swallowed up in the last season by the strange black object, it is unsure what exactly will happen to her, but I do have a theory. We were already told that this object certainly aims to attack Inhumans and considering Simmons hatred for the unknown from the first season, it would be quite an irony that she herself was a potential Inhuman. The irony would also make her have to realize that her actions from the last season were wrong after all and the obelisk might potentially even change her beyond being a simple Inhuman. We were told that we would find out in the first episode, which will certainly make the long wait since the finale bearable long enough.

Could Zimmer’s Organization become SWORD?
While I ever doubt SHIELD and HYDRA will ever truly work together, the new organization that is ruled by Constance Zimmer’s character, who I still believe is Brand, could potentially become an important part of SHIELD. If my theory pans out that she is in fact Abigail Brand then it would be an interesting twist that with the Inhumans pop up on our planet and maybe even more Kree trying to clean up their own mess, it could show a growing interest in expanding SHIELD with a new division titled SWORD that will take place in space. It could be also a way to make SHIELD’s more X-Factor style show be strongly inspired by Stargate with them taking a step beyond just earth and maybe seeing how it influences Infinity War.

These are just some of my thoughts. What about your hopes for the upcoming third season? Leave a comment below!
