It seems that recent reports might be hinting at which up-and-coming director might take over the direction of Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther film. While Ava DuVernay had left the project early on, Marvel has been on the lookout for potential directors to take over teh projects, which focuses on the king of the fictional African city of Wakanda. With the character being portrayed by Chadwick Boseman in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film, attention is high on who might be heading the project.

According to some reports it seems they are currently eyeing Ryan Coogler, who has just recently directed the sequel to the Rocky franchise in Creed, which focuses on Apollo Creed’s son played by Michael B. Jorden, who some might remember portrayed The Human Torch in Fantastic Four. It certainly seems as an interesting choice, as in a recent interview he stated that „I think that there is a potential for a greater truth when a filmmaker comes from a particular culture that they’re dealing with. That’s not to say that a filmmaker can’t work outside his or her cultural space. But I do believe that the opportunity for the film to have more nuance will come when you looking at filmmakers that bring a little bit of that from their personal experience.”[1]
