Riverdale's Cast Keeps Growing

We all have those things that fill us with nostalgia and for me it is probably Archie's Digest. While living abroad in Austria, my father would still send me Archie comics now and then and when I heard that CW was working on a show focusing on Riverdale, I was actually quite curious what they would do. Considering that CW is famous for its teen drama, it almost seems like a perfect fit and I couldn't wait to see what they will do.

Slowly we are getting more and more news regarding the show, which was picked up for a pilot order. The main lead Archie Andrews has been cast with New Zealander (not Zoolander) KJ Apa, whose character is described as "an intense, conflicted teen, a boyish high school sophomore who got pumped up over teh summer working construction and is now juggling the interest of several girls, as well as trying to balance his passion for writing and performing music - against the wishes of his father and his football coach."

I find it strange that they went out of their way to explain that Archie is "pumped up", but who knows what direction they are going. Also, Josie and the Pussycats will play a role in the seris, as thy also casted Ashleigh Murray as Josie, who is "a gorgeous, snooty and ambitious girl who is the lead singer for popular band Josie and the Pussycats. She has zero interest in recording any songs written by fellow teen Archie." It seems they might have a close relationship in the show when Riverdale debuts next TV season with executive producer Greg Berlanti attached.

We also have casting news regarding the Hamburger-munching Jughead, as Cole Sprouse has been cast as the character and Lili Reinhart playing Betty. The strangest decision is that Jughead is described as an "emo-heartthrob" so it will be interesting to see how the character will appear in teh series.

What do you think of this casting news? Leave your thoughts below!
