One of the biggest disappointments of the year was probably the cancellation of Constantine on NBC, which sadly came to an end after a 13-episode run and quite a cliffhanger. One thing most fans of the show agree on is that Matt Ryan was born to play John Constantine and many were hoping to see him return to play the character on the CW, which could open the gate for them to bring Constantine to the network. Many people will be glad to hear that at the TCA’15 it was officially confirmed that Matt Ryan will indeed return on Arrow in episode five titled “Haunted”.[1]

Arrow’s showrunner Mark Guggenheim stated at the event that “We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow. Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired. The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show this season has provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of the series.”

While it seems that this appearance will be a one-off according to the executive producer, there is still hope that this could potentially land Matt Ryan a recurring role on either Arrow or Legends of Tomorrow. If it proves successful and the fan’s work together we could see Constantine be revived on CW, as they already have a similar show that is quite popular with Supernatural.
