Powers Boothe Joins Agents of SHIELD

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has now officially confirmed a new actor that will be joining our favorite agents this season. Powers Boothe, who now only has an incredible name, has appeared in a variety of projects such as Sin City, Deadwood and even Nashville, will be playing the recurring role of Gideon Malick, who is described to be “a notorious man whose loyalties remain a mystery.”

The most interesting aspect is that he actually played one of the World Council Leaders back in The Avengers, but it doesn’t seem that he is playing that exact role. Could also turn out that he is in fact connected to that role, as the character was never truly given a name. Jeph Loeb only stated “Gideon is incredibly menacing and in him we have a character that even the stone-cold Grant Ward would fear. Only someone of Powers’ caliber could deliver the type of ominous and powerful performance we needed.”

With a HYDRA connection, we could find out that Malick was a part of the World Council, but acted on it as a secret HYDRA agent, but as of now there is no confirmation when he will be taking up his role and we will have to wait until he officially shows up in the show.[1]
