Has Luke Cage Found Its Villain?
It seems that while there is still no sign for the official release date for the next Netflix original series Jessica Jones, we do in fact have some news for the third Marvel show, Luke Cage. While Mike Colter was already confirmed to be playing the titular character and with Cheo Hodari Coker on as executive producer, nothing more was truly known about the project.[1]
Now it was confirmed that Award winning
actress Alfre Woodard will be joining the series, as the character named Minetta,
who is “a powerful woman in local
politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage’s life.” It also seems that
this will be a new interpretation of the character from the comics Black
Mariah, who was a professional criminal and drug dealer.
Furthermore, it seems the first
logline has been released, which states that:
“Mike
Colter, who will be first introduced in the second Marvel series for Netflix,
A.K.A. Jessica Jones, plays Cage, a wrongly accused man who, granted
superstrength by a sabotaged experiment, escapes prison to become a superhero
for hire.”
At
first sight it seems to be quite close to the original storyline of how Luke
Cage received his powers, but it will be interesting to see which direction the
show will take and if we will even see his time in prison, which lead to him
receiving his powers.
