The Flash also returns once more with Barry Allen trying to come to grips with two worlds colliding, as a new version of the Flash from Earth-2 appears, Jay Garrick. We uncover who exactly this mysterious Zoom is and also see how the singularity became the cause of various holes appearing that allow transport between the planets, so Zoom brings in another villain named Sand Demon. Additionally, Patty Spivot is trying to get a job in Joe’s metahuman task force, but has to come to realize that he is a much more stubborn man than she at first realized. How did these two Flash turn out?

Here comes a real fast Spoiler Alert. Oh, too bad you already missed it, it was here a second ago. Well, maybe you’ll see it next time.

I will start off by saying it was nice to see someone that Barry could play off as well as Patty. While her backstory is quite tragic and I believed to be a great way to show her personal motivations to join his task force, I hope she doesn’t become too much of a love interest and still gets to shine on her own. Her becoming the damsel in distress was a bit sad to see, but she has proven to be quite capable as she caught the Earth-1 incarnation of the Sand Demon, which was also a great addition to show that kind of shows the Butterfly effect and how different actions can change entire outcomes of a characters future yet who they are at the core doesn’t change.

Barry was a bit interesting to follow. His motivation of not trusting Jay Garrick because of the Reverse-Flash’s actions was a great way to cement that his former mentor has left quite a large scar in his heart. Him teaching the Flash to use a the lightning as a weapon was a great addition to his power set and was a great way to cement his role for this season. Yet I do have some issues with him losing his powers, it would have been great to see the implications of two speedsters in a world. Maybe them switching between their powers as they can only tap into so much of it could make an interesting storyline down the road, but I have a feeling Zoom is somehow involved with the matter. On a side note, them recreating the famous comic book cover of the titular episode was a nice nod, but boy did it look a bit forced.

Snow Demon is quite a serviceable villain even if he reminds me a bit too much of Sandman from the Spider-Man universe. Still, him turning into glass was an interesting way of taking him out, as they try to avoid the classic “turning the sand person into mud” trope. What I didn’t quite understand though was how he had Flash in his grasps, stating how easy it was to find him and then just kind of disappears. I just really did not understand how that scene worked, but it probably was to keepthe plot moving.

The greatest thing about the episode was Dr. Stein, who is slowly becoming my personal favorite character on the show. His humor is great and he makes the exposition sound extremely interesting, but seeing him suddenly faint at the end of the episode is not a good sign, as the missing Ronnie might be keeping him quite unstable. Yet as I believed this was the biggest twist of the episode, suddenly seeing a different world that Dr. Harrison Wells turned out to actually become quite famous and the potential reappearance of the character makes me giddy. I do wonder if this is the original Wells, or even the evil Reverse-Flash who managed to establish his life as Wells. Whatever comes it will be very interesting.
