Will Iron Fist Be Replaced By The Punisher?

After recent reports stated that Netflix and Marvel are working on creating a Moon Knight series, it seems that one of the core Defenders is having a problem getting off of the ground. Iron Fist seems to be the show that has the biggest difficulty establishing itself, as early reports already stated that they were having an issue combining the more mystic element of the franchise with the grounded feel the Netflix series have established with Daredevil and plan to with the upcoming Jessica Jones series.[1]

Do they have a Plan B? It seems with the high popularity for the upcoming introduction of The Punisher in Daredevil’s second season, they are considering replacing the show with one focused on the Punisher. The statement the source of PeeltheOrange.com gave was as follows:

Marvel can’t quite seem to figure out how to put Iron Fist into the equation and time is running out. They’re very pleased with how Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of Frank Castle for Season 2 of Daredevil and know that the fans have a great appreciation for the character. They also know that a Punisher series would be much cheaper and more marketable. They have a contract with Netflix and have to do something. It appears that for this phase of shows, time is running thin for Iron Fist.

It seems that they are having issues finding a suitable showrunner to realize the Iron Fist character, and also find a way to have the character stay in New York City while still keeping his more Asian cultural origin, which could become a bit expensive for the Netflix projects. The Punisher would make sense and it could potentially give them a bit more time while trying to find a suitable way to portray the character. Still, it can only be taken with a grain of salt as of now!
